Help Needed For 1st Day Of School

Author: Webmaster  //  Category: Announcements
Hello everyone-

It’s time to go back to school on Monday and we are hoping that we can get some volunteers to help with a little project.  On Monday morning, we will be providing coffee and donuts for parents that may be having a hard time leaving their children on the first day of school.  For example, sometimes the kindergarten parents linger a little in the kindergarten playground and might be having a hard time leaving.  To make the process a little easier, we are hoping to have the Community Club there to help guide the parents into the MPR room and introduce ourselves and offer them a place to meet other parents.  To make it really successful, it would be wonderful if we could have some bilingual parents there.  If you are available in the morning for about an hour on the first day of school, please meet us in the MPR room after you have dropped off your children.  This gesture will be appreciated by the new parents and also by the teachers.

Thanks so much, and we’ll see you next week!
Sincerely,
Yara and Joanna

A Room Parent should be able to commit to assisting the teacher with various classroom and school activities throughout the school year.  Just a few hours a month is needed to coordinate the various activities.  A Room Parent should be organized, helpful, flexible, friendly, and responsible.  Room Parents are the key to establishing and building parental involvement for the class as well as the school.

What is expected from the Lead Room Parent?

  • To understand the teacher’s request and needs for the class
  • To communicate these requests efficiently within a timely manner to parents
  • To consider the requests of the teachers, parents, and the Room Parent Team prior to taking steps into action
  • To evenly delegate and assign requests to Parent Volunteers
  • To keep commitment as a Room Parent.  However, if unable to fulfill this role, it is vital to let the teacher or Room Parent Coordinator know for immediate replacement.
  • And all items listed below.

What is expected of a Room Parent?

  • To help out in the classroom as determined by the teacher
  • To dedicate and focus planning for the class.  This will insure that class events will be coordinated in a timely manner and that which will best suit the expectations of the teachers.
  • To fulfill requests in a timely manner
  • To keep confidential information private
  • To get parents involved!

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all classroom parties.
  • Assist the teacher with various field trips and any special programs that may require help during the year.
  • Recruit volunteers for various Community Club fundraising events (ex. Book Fair, School Pictures, Family Fun Night, Walk-a-Thon, and Field Day).
  • Recruit volunteers to take pictures during class events, parties, or school spirit day.  These pictures are for use in scrapbooks and/or the yearbook.
